New SPI & I2C Applications
for the Promira Serial Platform

SPI Active - Level 3 Application

 

The all-new architecture of the SPI Active - Level 3 Application running on the Promira™ Serial Platform provides even faster programming speeds, superior performance, more slave select lines and additional GPIOs.

The Promira Serial Platform with the SPI Active – Level 3 Application supports all multi-I/O SPI devices. Each data transfer burst in Quad I/O mode at 80 MHz is 40x faster compared to the Aardvark™ I2C/SPI Host Adapter. And, there are now 8 available chip selects versus 1 with the Aardvark adapter and 3 with the Cheetah™ SPI Host Adapter.  

Updated features include:

  • Protocols Supported: Single, Dual and Quad I/O SPI
  • Master Clock Speed: up to 80 MHz
  • Slave Clock Speed: up to 20 MHz
  • Chip/Slave Select Lines: 8
  • Software configurable Slave Select (SS) polarity in master mode
  • Slave Response: up to 256 bytes per response, variable word length
  • Multi I/O Memory Programing: EEPROM, Flash, other SPI memory
  • GPIO(s): up to 16
  • Voltage Levels: 0.9-3.45, 5 V
  • Target Power: 2 independent supplies, 1 programmable (0.9-3.45 V), 1 switchable (3.3-5 V), 100 mA each
  • Connection Types: High Speed USB, Ethernet 10/100/1000

I2C Active - Level 2 Application


Not to be out done by SPI, Total Phase has also announced the release of yet another I2C Application for the Promira platform the I2C Active - Level 2 Application.

This new application offers High Speed (HS) mode allowing I2C data transfer 4x faster per burst compared to the Aardvark adapter
. The application auto selects to High Speed mode based upon the requested transmit frequency, works with memory, sensor and data conversion products. The latest features include: 
  • Master Clock Speed: up to 3.4 MHz
  • Slave Clock Speed: up to 3.4 MHz
  • Slave Response: up to 256 bytes per unique response 
  • No inter-byte delays
  • HS Memory Programing: EEPROM, other I2C memory
  • GPIO(s): up to 12
  • Voltage Levels: 0.9-3.45, 5 V
  • Target Power: 2 independent supplies, 1 programmable (0.9-3.45 V), 1 switchable (3.3-5 V), 100 mA each
  • Connection Types: High Speed USB, Ethernet 10/100/1000
