SANTA CLARA, CA –Tuesday October 23, 2018 - Total Phase has officially introduced the Lightning USB2 Adapter for the Advanced Cable Tester. With this newest addition to the Advanced Cable Tester accessories, thorough USB cable testing can be performed by an even wider population of cable manufacturers and resellers, including those creating cables to complement the abundance of Lightning products on the market.
The Advanced Cable Tester is compatible with all USB Type-C cables, including Full-Featured and USB 2.0 Type-C cables, and offers multiple adapters for USB 3.1 Standard-A and USB 3.1 Micro-B which enables a variety of USB legacy cable tests including Standard-A to Micro-B (USB 2.0 & USB 3.1), Standard-A to Type-C (USB 2.0 & USB 3.1), and Type-C to Micro-B (USB 2.0 & USB 3.1).
The addition of the Lightning USB2 adapter enables testing for Standard-A to Lightning cables.
“Cable manufacturers producing Lightning cables can now perform a thorough set of assessments utilizing the Advanced Cable Tester and its preconfigured test profiles based on Lightning standards and specifications, among a variety of other cable profiles”, mentioned Chris Yokum, USB Product Manager at Total Phase.
Our set of comprehensive tests include IR drop for VBUS & GND, the DC resistance of each individual power pin, continuity checks of all pins/wires for opens/shorts, and for full featured USB Type C to USB Type C cables comparison of the E-marker values to actual performance. Unlike other cable testers, the Advanced Cable Tester offers an across-the-board analysis on each cable, including comprehensive signal integrity testing on USB 2.0 and SuperSpeed pairs. Users can easily identify cable performance issues in detail, or simply confirm the overall pass/fail determination.
Gil Ben-Dov, CEO of Total Phase, confirmed, “Total Phase is excited to fill a testing need in the industry for Lightning cables and accessories. This extends the ability of the Advanced Cable Tester to confirm that USB and Lightning cables sold to the consumer meet Apple’s stringent safety and quality requirements. Now authorized Lightning cable manufacturers using the Advanced Cable Tester can ensure they are producing quality cables that meet Apple’s standards.
The Lightning Adapter for the Advanced Cable Tester is exclusively available to MFI licensees.
