SPI Active – Level 3 Application offers quadruple speed and functionality over the initial release, pushing clock rates to the maximum.
SANTA CLARA, CA – Tuesday, August 4, 2015 - Total Phase, a leading provider of embedded systems development tools, is pleased to announce the release of the SPI Active - Level 3 Application for its Promira™ Serial Platform. The Promira platform, introduced by Total Phase in November of 2014, is the next generation of embedded tools, combining a host adapter and a protocol analyzer into a single serial device. Capabilities increase with the introduction of each application, making the Promira platform stronger, faster and smarter than any other single tool on the market.
The introduction of SPI Active - Level 3 represents the fourth application release in the past eight months. Fulfilling Total Phase’s commitment to introduce new applications, extend the Promira platform feature set and provide enhanced functionality for the currently supported SPI and I2C protocols.
SPI Active – Level 3 Application features include:
- Protocols Supported: SPI Single, Dual and Quad I/O
- Master Clock Speed:80 MHz
- Slave Clock Speed: 20 MHz
- Chip/Slave Select: 8
- Single slave response of up to 256 bytes, variable word length
- Software configurable Slave Select (SS) polarity in master mode
- GPIO(s): up to 16
- Voltage Levels: 0.9-3.45, 5
- Target Power: 2 independent, 1 programmable (0.9-3.45 V), 1 switchable (3.3-5 V), 100 mA each
- Variable word length
- Connection Types: High Speed USB, Ethernet 10/100
“The Promira Serial Platform is revolutionizing the embedded devices market, said Gil Ben-Dov, CEO of Total Phase. “The concept for developing a serial device evolved from observation of the extreme conditions under which development and test engineers perform. They often face aggressive performance goals with immediate deadlines. As a result, they do not have the luxury of waiting for test and measurement tools to be delivered by regular or even expedited post. So Total Phase committed to deliver the high functioning, reliable and cost effective tools we are known for, in an on-demand expandable platform.”
The SPI Active – Level 3 Application is named first and foremost after the protocol that it supports. The Level number is simply the release sequence. Perhaps the most important descriptor in the product name is “Active” – meaning – to actively interact with the device under test (DUT) versus something that would be “passive” which simply reports or reads the DUT bus. More specifically, the Promira platform with SPI Active – Level 3 Application can write to the fastest memories currently on the market at Master Clock Speeds of up to 80 MHz in Quad I/O mode. This represents significant increases in flexibility, capability and performance helping engineers with design, development, End-of-line programming, manufacturing, memory chip programming, peripheral simulation, test and measurement in any industry ranging from automotive and communications to health and manufacturing.
