Sunnyvale, CA - March 27, 2012 - Total Phase, a provider of industry-leading USB, I2C, SPI, and CAN embedded systems tools, is pleased to announce its sponsorship of the Renesas RL78 Green Energy Challenge Design Contest. Hosted by Renesas Electronics America, in partnership with Circuit Cellar Magazine and Elektor Magazine, the Renesas RL78 Green Energy Challenge provides an open, creative environment in which embedded engineers can showcase their skill in developing green energy designs. As a Renesas Electronics Gold Alliance Partner, Total Phase is sponsoring over $3,500 in prizes to contest participants.
"The support of our Alliance Partners, such as Total Phase, helps Renesas provide a broad and exciting list of prizes for participants in the Renesas RL78 Green Energy Challenge," said Rob Dautel, Senior Manager of Ecosystems, Consumer & Industrial Business Unit, Renesas Electronics America. "We are looking forward to seeing innovative designs in areas such as energy harvesting, low power, metering, monitoring and control systems, and are pleased to have Total Phase as a sponsor of this contest."
"Total Phase is excited to participate in another great design contest hosted by Renesas," said Derek Fung, VP Business at Total Phase, Inc. "We believe that our I2C and SPI debugging and development tools will be an excellent aid to all the contestants. Total Phase Sponsors Multiple Prizes
Contestants will have two opportunities to win Total Phase prizes. First, all participants will have the opportunity to win Total Phase tools during the Weekly Challenge contest hosted by Renesas Electronics America. Second, the overall winners selected by Renesas Electronics America judges will receive a Total Phase I2C or SPI tool. The winners will be announced at the Renesas Developers Conference in October 2012. Judges will select the winning green energy designs based on a scoring of technical merit, design originality, usefulness, cost effectiveness, and documentation. Details of the prizes and judging criteria can be found on the contest page.
RL78 RDK and the Renesas RL78 Green Energy Challenge
The RL78 RDK features the new RL78 microcontroller and integrates best-in-class products from several Renesas Electronics partners. The RL78 RDK is a low power solution, helping to reduce design and interoperability uncertainty for designers while maintaining high performance and time- to-market turnaround. The header socket for the Beagle I2C/SPI Protocol Analyzer has been built into the new RL78 RDK, allowing developers to easily connect and analyze their applications using the Data Center Software by Total Phase.
The Renesas RL78 Green Energy Challenge contest begins March 26, 2012 and ends August 31, 2012. Winners will be announced at the Renesas DevCon in October in Anaheim, California.
