Learn to Debug USB, I2C, and SPI using Total Phase Tools at Renesas DevCon 2010

Anaheim, CA – October 11, 2010 – Total Phase's complete line of USB, I2C, and SPI development tools for embedded systems will be featured in various technical sessions at the Renesas Developers Conference 2010 in Anaheim, California. Conference attendees will have multiple opportunities to participate in hands-on labs using Total Phase tools to interface and debug applications using Renesas microcontrollers.

Renesas DevCon Hands-On Training Sessions

Total Phase will be hosting a hands-on lab session, “Using Embedded Tools for I2C, SPI, and USB Debugging and Development for Renesas MPU and MCUs”, on Tuesday, October 12 at 4 pm, that will give attendees the opportunity to utilize USB, I2C, and SPI debugging tools on the Renesas SH7216 Demonstration Board. Attendees will develop skills to analyze, isolate, and debug USB, I2C, and SPI applications in this two hour lab session using the Beagle USB 480 Protocol Analyzer, Beagle I2C/SPI Protocol Analyzer, and Aardvark I2C/SPI Host Adapter.

"Total Phase is committed to providing developers with top-notch development tools to develop tomorrow's solutions," said Derek Fung, VP Business at Total Phase, Inc. "We are confident that once developers test drive our tools, they will understand and appreciate the power of interactive protocol analysis. We want to help developers get up and running quickly on Renesas' comprehensive suite of MPUs and MCUs and we look forward to working directly with developers during our hands-on lab session."

"We are excited to have Total Phase join us at our conference as a Gold Alliance Partner," said Rob Dautel, Alliance and Communities Manager at Renesas Electronics America. "We recognize the importance of offering system-level expertise for our customers. To realize this goal, we're closely working with companies like Total Phase to develop highly integrated and multifaceted embedded solutions that maximize development productivity of new embedded system products."

Total Phase tools will also be featured in other technical sessions. A live demonstration of the new Beagle USB 5000 SuperSpeed Protocol Analyzer will be included in the session entitled “USB 3.0 Super Speed 'Under the Hood.' ” This session will familiarize attendees with the next generation in USB technology, SuperSpeed USB. The Beagle USB 5000 analyzer is a real-time USB 3.0 bus monitor, priced at $5000 USD.

Total Phase Serial Bus Tools

The Beagle line of protocol analyzer for USB, I2C, and SPI feature real-time interactive capture and analysis of serial bus data. Developers can interact with their target device and instantly see the resulting serial bus traffic. The Beagle USB 480 Protocol Analyzer provides the capability to capture high-speed USB data and decode class-level data in real time. The Beagle I2C/SPI Protocol Analyzer can monitor I2C (up to 4 MHz) and SPI (Up to 24 MHz) with bit-level timing down to 10 ns.

The Aardvark I2C/SPI Host Adapter is a versatile tool which can operate as either a master or slave device over I2C and SPI. With its varied feature set, the Aardvark adapter is utilized worldwide in a wide range of applications, from development to automated burn-in and test for production lines.

About the Renesas Technology Developers Conference

Hosted by the world's largest MCU supplier, the two-and-a-half-day technology conference gives system designers developing embedded systems special access to the latest advances in microprocessor and microcontroller technology, as well as practical solutions that can be applied to accelerate and improve their engineering projects. The event consists of about 80 courses on a wide range of hot topics, ranging from robust CAN connectivity for networked embedded systems, direct-drive solutions for TFT LCD panels in consumer electronics products, motor control methods for home appliances, to FlexRay technology and hybrid vehicles. Content-rich lectures and hands-on laboratory sessions will be led by embedded systems experts from Renesas and technology partners from a large support community of third-party suppliers. About 250-300 are expected to attend the event.
