SUNNYVALE, CA - February 23, 2009 - Total Phase, a sponsor of the Microchip PIC32 Design Challenge, congratulates the eight finalists whose designs have been selected to continue to Phase 4, the last phase of the year-long design contest.
Each of the eight finalists will receive an I2C Development Kit (retail value: $550.00) as part of their prize package to help them develop and debug the prototype of their PIC32-based application in the final phase of the contest. The I2C Development Kit is a comprehensive and cost-effective bundle of industry-leading I2C development tools and popular accessories. The kit features the Aardvark™ I2C/SPI Host Adapter, a fast and powerful I2C and SPI bus interface through USB, and the Beagle™ I2C/SPI Protocol Analyzer, a versatile, real-time bus monitor for I2C and SPI protocols.
During the fourth phase, PIC32 community members will have the chance to win one of two Beagle™ USB 480 Protocol Analyzers (retail value: $1200), a powerful and non-intrusive high-speed USB 2.0 bus monitor. To enter the drawing, please visit the PIC32 Design Challenge Website (www.mypic32.com).
The Beagle USB 480 Protocol Analyzer is a low cost, non-intrusive High-Speed USB 2.0 bus monitor that can display and filter USB traffic in real-time. It is one of the smallest and most portable high-speed USB analyzer on the market, making it an ideal tool for use in the lab or in the field. Major features include automatic speed detection, hardware-based packet suppression, multiple digital inputs and outputs, and much more.
The PIC32 Design Challenge is a year-long challenge comprised of four phases. Contestants build and design their own PIC32-based applications and present them to the Microchip community through the use of blogs, videos, and forums. A panel of judges and peers vote on which designs continue to the subsequent phases of the contest.
At the close of the fourth phase, community members will get a chance to vote on the winning design. The top five designers will be flown to San Jose for the Embedded Systems Conference, where the judges will cast their final votes and award over $10,000 in prizes live on April 1, 2009.
