Total Phase Releases USB Class-Level Decoding Upgrade to the High-Performance Data Center™ Serial Bus Analysis Software

SUNNYVALE, CA - August 31, 2009 - Total Phase, a leading provider of embedded systems development tools, is pleased to announce the addition of USB class-level decoding to the Data Center™ Software, the industry's only protocol analysis software that captures and displays data in true real-time for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.

Class-Level Decoding in True Real Time

The task of developing and debugging USB devices has been made easier thanks to class-level decoding, which takes low-level USB data captured by the software and translates it into a human-readable format in true real-time.

"Class-level decoding is a powerful addition to the Data Center Software," stated Derek Fung, Senior Engineer at Total Phase. "Instead of seeing a stream of raw data that can be difficult to understand, engineers can see the class-level data, such as Mass Storage commands or HID reports, organized in a clear hierarchical view. This level of real-time information will make it easier for developers to find and fix bugs."

"Implementing real-time class-level decoding in the Data Center software was a major technical challenge," added Etai Bruhis, Engineer at Total Phase. "We have gone to great lengths to ensure that engineers will be able to transfer large amounts of data and decode them, all in real-time."

The Data Center software currently supports Human Interface Device (HID), Mass Storage, Hub, and Audio classes. Support for additional classes will be available soon. Full class-level decoding is available for the Beagle™ USB 480 Protocol Analyzer, while the Beagle™ USB 12 Protocol Analyzer supports USB descriptor parsing.

About the Data Center 3.5 Software

The Data Center software is a free protocol analysis software that can capture, display, and filter USB, I2C, and SPI bus data in real-time with the Beagle™ line of hardware protocol analyzers. The new USB class-level decoding support in the Data Center 3.5 Software features advanced hierarchical transaction grouping, descriptor parsing for individual transactions, and class-level filters.

About the Beagle Protocol Analyzers

The Beagle Protocol Analyzers are the hardware complement to the Data Center software. The Beagle analyzers non-intrusively capture and display USB, I2C, and SPI serial bus data. Total Phase offers three different bus monitors: the Beagle USB 480 Protocol Analyzer, a high-speed USB 2.0 monitor, the Beagle USB 12 Protocol Analyzer, a full- and low-speed USB monitor, and the Beagle I2C/SPI Protocol Analyzer, which monitors I2C and SPI data.

Pricing and Availability

The Data Center 3.5 software is available immediately as a free download for Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X on the Total Phase website. Beagle protocol analyzers can be purchased online. Orders placed before 2 PM PST are usually shipped the same day.
