How Do I Enable the A2B Bus Monitor to Monitor Audio Signals?
Rena Ayeras

Question from the Customer:

I am using the A2B Bus Monitor and I can see the I2C transactions during “discovery”, which indicates the monitor is up running and monitoring the A2B bus. However, the audio output is not visible.  How do I configure the A2B Master to enable monitoring the audio output?

Response from Technical Support:

Thanks for you question! If you are able to see the bus data but not the audio signal, it is probably because audio monitoring is not enabled in your setup. As a security feature, Analog Devices requires explicitly enabling audio signal monitoring by the master node in an A2B system

Enable the A2B Bus Monitor

To enable the A2B Bus Monitor to capture the I2S/TDM audio data on the A2B bus, the A2B Master must be configured to enable audio output. Here is the information you requested:

  • Write a '1' to bit #5 in DATCTL register of the A2B master node as part of their discovery process.
  • This configuration informs the attached A2B monitor in the daisy chain to enable audio data capture.

Following is an example of successfully monitoring an audio signal.
